Alyssa is someone I’ve followed on Instagram for some time now, and adore the images she posts. I stalked kept up her while she was trecking through Italy, Paris and London just recently looking effortlessly stunning and I knew I had to feature her on the blog, and share some of her beauty-full images.

Alyssa, I’d love to know – what’s in your beauty cupboard?

Alyssa: “I love taking care of my skin. As weird as it may sound, my favourite part of my beauty routine is when I get to take all of my makeup off at the end of the day and pamper my skin with amazing products. A good skin care routine is essential, and I have mine down pat – it falls into my daily life as easily as brushing my teeth and there’s never a day, no matter how tired or late for work I am, where I don’t take the time to cleanse, treat and moisturise my skin.

At the end of each day, I wash my face with QV Gentle Skin Wash. Not a fancy cleanser at all, but it takes all my make-up off without stripping my skin and doesn’t aggravate my sensitive skin. I then use Bioderma Micellar Water to remove any excess makeup and oil so that my skin is perfectly prepped for serums and moisturisers.

I discovered Caudalie products about 6 months ago, and now I can’t live without the Eau de Beauty Beauty Elixir. I spray the mist all over my face after I’ve finished with the micellar water and let it sit on my skin for a few minutes. It tingles a little bit and leaves the sin feeling so fresh and hydrated – I sometimes use it during the day if I feel my skin needs a bit of a “pick me up”.

Last, but definitely not least, I use 2 pumps of the Avene Hydrating Serum, tapping it (not rubbing) it into my skin and follow up with a small amount of Bioderma Senisibio Light Soothing Cream. I love trying new skin care products and my beauty cabinet is overflowing with different creams and serums. Working as a Pharmacist in a Priceline Pharmacy means I have access to some fantastic skin care products and I am always the first one to try out any new products that arrive.

My basic skincare routine never waivers, but I will sometimes add on a more targeted product when I’m feeling my skin needs that extra bit of help. At times when my skin is feeling quite dehydrated, like when I returned from two months travelling in the European summer, I will add on a hydrating mask twice a week. I use Skin Republic sheet masks and love the brightening Vitamin C mask and the Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen mask.”

“One of my favourite beauty products is the Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser. I have fallen in love with this product and it has completely replaced foundation in my beauty cupboard. It has just the right amount of coverage to give a gorgeous & even skin base, and light reflecting particles that give the skin a soft-focus radiance. I used this product exclusively while I travelled overseas this year and I don’t think I could live without it!

I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow-Wiz to create fuller and natural looking brows – I have repurchased this product so many times that I would definitely consider it to be one of my HG products. I find it really easy to use because the tip is quite small, so it’s easy to achieve hair-like strokes with it so that my eyebrows don’t look obviously “done”.

My makeup is always really simple and natural looking, and it always includes a winged liner – not sure how natural a winged liner is actually – but I would consider it my “signature look” and there’s very rarely a day I go without a cat eye. To achieve my liner I use the Rimmel ‘Glam’Eyes’ Liquid Liner – it goes on so smoothly and because it’s a liquid, it’s really easy to work with.

I love the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette to give a bit of extra glow on my cheek bones, the colours are so soft and blend really well to give that ‘lit from within’ effect. As you can probably tell, I love skin that “glows”, hence my preference for tinted moisturiser over a foundation. I love skin that looks fresh and isn’t covered up, which ties back into my dedication to my skincare routine. Ensuring my skin is in its best condition means I don’t need to use makeup to cover it up, instead, I can use products to enhance it. Of course, there’s times when my skin hasn’t been quite so cooperative and I’ve woken up with a great big pimple in the middle of my forehead – then out comes the heavy duty concealer and clever use of foundation to help even out the skin!

I absolutely adore Stila products and the Eyes are the Window in ‘Soul’ and ‘Perfect Me, Perfect Hue’ in medium/tan palettes are my favourite. The colours blend so beautifully on the eye and can be used to create a natural wash of colour or a full blown dramatic eye. I am not one of those girls who can do amazing eye makeup, so I love that these palettes make it really simple to create gorgeous eyes without needing a degree in shadow application and brush stroke technique!”.
